Watercolors in the Summer are great! There is soooo many beautiful florals and landscapes available to sketch and watercolor with all different techniques! This is a great time to try different methods of watercolors be it with watercolor pencils or paints.
I was so fortunate this last weekend....Summertime is 'Garage Sale Crazytime'. I found a few canvases, sketchpads and watercolor pencils at a garage sale!!!! I love a bargain! The whole find cost only $5.00!!! What a deal and now I can search for a subject to paint. The flower below looks like a great prospect doesn't?
See you soon!!! Happy Watercoloring!

More Experimenting...Sketching & Pastels
So I am in the process of trying pastels and learning how I can darken and lighted accents by piling them on or lightly shading them on the picture. I have even been smudging and rubbing them slowly into shape. Just remember!! THESE ARE WORKS IN PROGRESS AND PROGRESS NOT PERFECTIONS!!!
I am enjoying this exercise because I am not only learning and trying to do something out of my comfort zone, but it brings good memories forward.
Barney was 'one of a kind' to us. I think when I'm done I'll keep this one by my work area.

Continuous Blind Line Drawings
I was driving into town earlier, appreciating the scenery and suddenly remembered an excercise in sketching/drawing that I enjoyed...starting at one spot on paper with my pen and draw without lifting the pen from the paper. I did this a few times (not while driving) and found an interest in some of the pen drawings, so I colored in one, left one as drawn, did highlights on another with watercolor and I am still pondering what heck the others are!
My watercolor sketchings are always a work in progress, trying different mediums and styles..different techniques to begin to enjoy what I'm doing. As the article I posted earlier, Watercolor Sketching Techniques, I am accepting accidents and imperfections as a technique to explore what methods I enjoy.
I know today I am a 'work in progress'.... so my sketchings, drawings, watercolors, and other adventures I go on are definitely 'works in progrees'.
